Stavanger has always looked to the sea to help itself out of economic crisis. It started with the herring, sailing ships and sprattus, and in modern times it is the oil and gas from the North Sea that has given the country, region and city its economic growth.
|
On this tour we will learn more about our two important "oil periods". We start the tour with a walk through Old Stavanger and a visit to the Norwegian Canning Museum. The museum is one of a kind in the world and it presents the first oil period in a charming way. The tour continues to Stavanger Cathedral, which is one of the best preserved cathedrals in Scandinavia. After a walk through the modern city of Stavanger we will visit the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. At this unique museum we will learn about the oil adventure, life on the offshore oil plattforms and the effect the oil has had on life in Norway. Price: 350 NOK per person (minimum 10 persons)
