ON THE TRAILS OF THE VIKINGS

The Vikings were adventurous seafarers, from Denmark, Norway and Sweden. They spread through Europe and the North Atlantic area in the period of the vigorous Scandinavian expansion (AD 800-1050) known as the Viking Age. On this tour you will learn more about the Viking Age.

Our first visit is to to the Archaelogical Museum where you will be greeted by a female Viking wearing her beautiful dress and jewellery. She will guide you through the museum and offer you a taste of real Viking snack!

At Hafrsfjord we stop at the famous monument Swords in Rock. These big swords commemorate a Viking battle in 872 AD, the start of the unification of Norway.

From the Ullandhaug tower we will enjoy the magnificent view of the Stavanger region.

Traveling out to Sola we make a stop at a little stone church dating back to 1140 AD. Sola was the home of the great Viking chieftain Erling Skjalgsson.
