Stavanger has the finest and best preserved wooden house settlement in Northern Europe. This tasty city walk starts with a walk through idyllic area of Old Stavanger.
Right in the heart of Old Stavanger is the Norwegian Canning Museum. We will visit the museum to learn the art of smoking and canning brisling sardines. In addition we get to taste this delicate food which was the life blood of Stavanger in a bygone era.
We walk along the harbour area and take another stop at the Fish market. What do Norwegians eat today? We get to taste delicious salmon and herring. Even shrimps if they are available.
Our tour continues via Øvre Holmegate with its multi-coloured old houses and shops. This street has become quite a tourist attraction.
Our last stop is at the well known butchers shop Idsøe, acknowlegded by their high quality produce. We get to taste some of their specialities.
