Norwegians are active outdoor enthusiasts and hiking has become an integral part of the Norwegian lifestyle.
The Sunday hike is a well established concept and the mountain Dalsnuten is frequently climbed by families living in Stavanger region.
Come and join us for a typical Sunday hike and enjoy a spectacular view from the summit (323m.). Have a panoramic view of the deep fjord, the sweeping expanse of Jæren and the North Sea beyond. The walk starts from the parking area at Gramstad. The first part follows a gravel farm road past Gramstadtjørn and Revhodlstjødna ponds, and some forest, drystone fences, as well as evidence of early settlement and farming activities.
The final climb up to the summit of Dalsnuten can be somewhat demanding, but set your eyes on the newly built cairn, a landmark from far and wide, and press on. At the peak you will be rewarded by a spectacular view while enjoying your packed lunch and of course that well deserved Kvikk Lunsj – a classic Norwegian chocolate, which has been the nation’s hiking buddy for 75 years.
